My first ever commute by bike and some laps in Prospect Park with my B SIG buddies!
My first ever commute by bike and some laps in Prospect Park with my B SIG buddies!
I’m going to tell you about the time I rented a bike in Portland six months ago.
I swear that I’ve been doing things these last few weeks!
What better place for a mental breakdown than a nature preserve filled with panthers?
Now I ESPECIALLY hate climbing.
The wildest Friday night anyone could have.
I am a lazy cyclist and I hate hills; I am not sure that will ever change.
I registered for my first micro-tour last week. This week, I installed my rear rack and panniers, AND registered for NYCC’s B SIG training program. I can’t be stopped!
I signed up for my FIRST self-supported micro-tour!
All I bought was beer.
New Year, new therapist, same bikes - I’m hoping this is my winning combination.
I now only go for bike rides on major US holidays.
So, it’s been a little while.
Since my move to Brooklyn a year ago, I’ve been meaning to join one of the Tuesday night group rides with NightCAP Brooklyn, a group that organizes social rides for trans, non-binary, queer and allied cis women. This past Tuesday, I finally made it.
Sorry, JJ, for yelling at you that I have no more gas to give as I pedaled my way up an advanced, technical trail that we were not supposed to be on in the first place! I didn’t exactly make it over the rock feature at the top of this climb.
Maria and SK invited me along for a ride to Bicycle Sundays, where a stretch of the Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars. SK checked on us the night before to make sure we all had a spare tube and maybe that was what jinxed me (no offense, SK)!
I’m a planner. Always have been, always will be. My “spontaneous” bike ride through South Brooklyn, sans a planned route, is a good reminder that I should always create a route for rides, lest I get lost in Bay Ridge again.
Notice anything different?
I keep having this strange, inexplicable allergic reaction around my eyes/face (I swell up and look like a different person - should perhaps start taking advantage of this) but I didn’t let that stop me from riding my bike Saturday, Sunday AND Monday of this long, holiday weekend.
